with that old speed garage alarm and strings that will make you think of the rough early days of drum n bass, this smashing remix surely makes for a massive dancefloor hit! cut up, re paste and break it down! new york based japanese producer yellowtail, formally known as hiro awanohara, hits us up with his debut release on the raw fusion label. and what a debut its got all those little finesses we like, raw, dirty, cut and paste beats with deep and sawed up bass lines. but not only that, we also get a fresh rhyme (caribbean style!) by uk based mc juakali to make us get jump up on it! and folks, this is just the flipside?on the a side of the vinyl release we get to go back in time, michael j fox style! its like something taken out of an old dark and dirty garage club in london back in the mid 90?s when yellowtail remixes his own original grunt with this ripgroove like 4/4 production.

PROLOGUE EP

19.12.07
quagmires third >artist ensemble< ep introduces the first four new artists to the labels roster. this quartet hails from dutch soil, william kouam djoko residenting in amsterdam as mical rhebess, pevanu and tim woestenenk living in the so called >backcorner< of east holland, near the german border. non of these young and talented producers released solo on vinyl before, which gives quagmire the absolute releasing debuts for these close friends of the label. william kouam djokos serialism repetition fills the complete logo side. this loopy bomb sucks you in a whirlpool of wet percussions and snareriffs. transitions are hardly recognizable and changing elements seem to continue. dynamic and delicate techhouse as never seen before on quagmire. tim woestenenks sunset love on the info side sets the elegant mood for this ep. microhouse in its purest form, stripped down to the most functional sounds. a big stab and a broken oriental stringinstrument give this track a incredible sense. timeless club music

NEVER BETTER THAN LATE
12 Inch
13.12.07
you may already know barem (aka mauricio barembuem) from his releases on (un)foundsound, pariter and phonocult or from his remixes on resopal, mos ferry and einmaleins. if so you, wont be surprised in the slightest to find him surfacing on minus with never better than late to round off what has been another groundbreaking year for this ubiquitous label. the electro flavoured broken beats of so serial (digital only) make it the perfect tool for opening a set or for shifting the mood. the melancholy tones, the massive snare reverbs and the low, stuttering acid bassline gradually turn up the pressure before eventually triggering the 4/4 section, establishing the perfect platform to propel the eve! ning onto the next level. the fantastically titled ears conclu! des the release, offering more subsonic trickery in a similar vein. the percussive licks shift up and down amid a wash of reverbs and delays, while the bubbling bassline motors forward, keeping the scuttling efx in check
limited one sided edition !! far out is just that: a track that goes the distance, but without pretension or unnecessary fanfare. more understated than your typical anthem, it cruises in stealth mode, winding a refined, percussive groove ever tighter, threaded onto a pattern of needle-nosed toms that glides almost unnoticed under your skin. unnoticed, that is, until the tracks main riff comes crashing down like an awning full of icicles, sharp and cold and heavy. but sebo ks sense of restraint is such that he never beats us over the head with it, so to speak. instead he lets the groove spiral on, tightening it as he goes and whipping up chilly little sinewave twisters along the way. you can leave your mittens at home, though, because theres enough heat in the rolling bass line to keep you warm all winter long

powerful reduced techno for the peaktime. rasmus hedlunds first release on resopal demonstrates his profound grasp of reduced groove with four powerful cuts.the full e.p. will work on the way up, in peak time, and on the way down, and it is all in all tracky enough and tuneful enough to be a great mixing tool anywhere in the set.
YOUR FACE IS A MESS EP
12 Inch
10.12.07
next hypnotical gel abril two tracker !! on the a-side, >200 grams< cannot be the weight of this heavily bouncing and hypnotizing tune. with a distinctive quirky line and a heavily bouncing groove like we are used from gel abril, “200 grams” keeps you moving all the way up to the main break, and then takin you back into the dubby old school groove. if the a-side was freaky and bouncing, well the ep title-track >your face is a mess< on the b-side can only be descibed as a dirty mindblowing minimal/tech house track with a druggy vocal all over and a very stripped down synth line

TIME SLIP EP
12 Inch
04.12.07
the title track recalls those half forgotten dreams of positivity and optimism inspired by early us house music… a nostalgic arrangement of arpeggiated synths, high string lines, analogue drum machines and a 1980s vintage, new order like stepped bassline. housemuzik 1.2,3 takes us into much dark territory, dragging a similar palette of sounds into a dense psychedelic mix of acid guitar, pitched down demonic vocals and disorientating spacial effects. dont listen to this with the lights off! fajr dub is an epic, stoned dub collage built around classic space echo delay & feedback tricks, spectral voices and a shifting synth bass pattern, all underpinned by a soft pulsing backbone reminiscent of rhythm & sound productions.

12 Inch
26.11.07
support comes from alex from tokyo (innervisions), chloe, muallem (compost), tim paris, will saul and philip sherburne (lan muzik). the belgian power-trio mugwump have gained solid support from the likes of ewan pearson, ivan smagghe and ata among others in the recent years for their floor crunching sound on labels such as eskimo, hi-phen, suicide, crosstown rebels and brique rouge. >memory lane refund< was projected for moodmusic as a proud statement. building on a solid house basement, the original is influenced by early chicago and uk house with jacking beats and excellent synth workout from the belgian maestros. their own acid retraxion remix works out some more rolling beats and an evil bassline straight from chicago ala 1987. for remix duties alexander maier (buzzin fly/criminal) turned the original upside down and injected a funky, yet melodic dose of new school house in its best form. this rocks. sasse deliveres a serious sunday afternoon rocker with same flow as his recent work with kiki & nick chacona

08.11.07
limited backstock !!! brand new series on minus with exclusive tracks by plastikman, dubfire, jpls, heartthrob, gaiser and marc houle. of the continuing themes found throughout the music released on minus, one constant exploration is the relationship between sound and silence. within the stripped down but dimensional outcome there exists a polarity that is neither controlled nor accidental, where life imitates art in between the notes. the act of finding inspiration from a sonic molecule or the inaudible space around that element is the nature of expansion & contraction. limited edition double pack vinyl format features a specially embossed sleeve and black/white vinyl, reflecting the duality of the expansion & contraction concept.

PERIODIC FLUCTUATIONS OF VOLTAGES
12 Inch
07.11.07
kontra-musik 006 moves the label into the analog domain of electronic dance music. this kind of sound you only get with the good old analogues. the a-side, produced by the master of the modular system, pseudonym scaff, takes us deep down our favorite techno memory lane. if techno was the meeting of kraftwerk and george clinton in an elevator, ssm 440 is the outcome of jeff mills and maurizio having breakfast at tiffanys. this track is warm, dubby and monotonous but with a drive heading straight for the late night dance floor. the b-side gives us two unique sounding tracks from pseudonym aparatus. city tunnel slowly and elegantly grinds, cranks and turns while building its way towards dance floor bliss. x-presso is best described as periodic fluctuations of voltages in the analog domain. elegant details of beautiful sound take us back to the time when minimal music still was interesting. this is >techno< in the sense that the term was originally intended. enjoy cause analog is the bastard

deadset return to front room with their third single tick tock from their album keys open doors. deadset set the bar impressively high. based on a simple sample sound taken from a grandfather clock that stands in the hall way of the studio where most of the album was written, this track perfectly illustrates the organic house feel that defines the deadset sound.the a side is a perfect late night/early morning dance floor session on wax. made for dancing, its heavy bottom end works perfectly with the vocal elements and grandfather clock to create a truly memorable piece of audio.the b side features the tough stripped back dub efforts of none other than man of the moment and reigning title holder of worlds biggest deadset fan, jesse rose. effortlessly powerful and designed for the heads down, hip wigglers amongst you.is it any wonder that djs like jesse rose, laurent garnier, dj t and switch all put their hands up in class when asked if they re dead certain about deadset.

salted music is happy to serve you the 3rd single from migs highly regarded new album those things. let me be features the soulful vocals of fred ross. migs has been bangin this one for sometime now with enthusiastic responses from dance floors and trainspotters all across the planet! already causing quite a stir among the few djs who have it, you are now in possession of this hot little gem. yes you are special! so now lets break it down. migs petalpusher dub turns on the heat for some deep, funky, upbeat dance floor appeal with key ingredients consisting of a warm, round, bumpin bassline, vocal snips and sax riffs floating in and out combined with smooth synth stabs and guitar licks all meshing together for an urban dance floor stompin dub! migs petalpusher vocal is in a similar vein as the dub while utilizing the full vocal and staying true to the original album version of the song. karol xvii and mb valence e dub provides sample amounts of dance floor pressure and tech appeal. a thick and techy bassline drives this electronic edged late night remix and toughens up the vibe using minimal vocal elements and leaving the main focus on the dirty groove! finally, the karol xvii and mb valence remigs utilizes similar elements as the dub while keeping more of a huge funked out sort of vibe and going for more of a main room appeal perfect for the larger club madness!
